Welcome to the Charles County RecPlus Program!

About Us

FC Charles administers the Charles county Rec Plus program in cooperation with Waldorf SC and La Plata Youth Soccer Assn.  Operating with other soccer clubs throughout the Southern Maryland region, Recreation Plus (RecPlus) Division allows above average players the opportunity to play competitive soccer without the travel and fees required by travel teams (U10) as well as an introduction to competitive soccer at the younger age groups (U8).  The Rec Plus program includes teams from St. Mary's Soccer and Calvert Soccer Assn.  RecPlus is open to both male and female players in the U8, and U10 age groups. RecPlus coaches are experienced coaches with above average qualifications and generally hold at least a USSF "E" license or equivalent.

Player Evaluations (Tryouts)

Since no players are ever “cut” from the recreational soccer program, it is inaccurate to use the term “tryout.”  We hold player evaluations to determine player placement – on either a recreational or RecPlus team.  Prior to each Fall season, a minimum of two evaluations will be held in conjunction with registration. These evaluations will determine which players are eligible for the RecPlus division.  The coaches that have been selected for the upcoming season will evaluate each player based on the evaluation format and rating form.  A supplemental evaluation may be held prior to the Spring season to fill roster slots created by departing players.

Player Placement

Players will be placed on teams through a modified draft procedure, with some restrictions on team assignments based on the area in which they live.

Season

Each RecPlus team roster is composed prior to the Fall season and will stay together through the end of the following Spring season.  There are typically 7 - 9 games each season, with half played at home and half played away.  The away games are played on game fields in St. Mary's County, Charles County and Calvert County.

Registration

FC Charles offers online registration only before each new season begins. Showing up for an evaluation does not register your player for the Fall or Spring season.  All players MUST register by using our online process and pay the season registration fee. Players selected for RecPlus will be invited to register accordingly when registration opens before each new season begins. Players not selected for RecPlus will need to register for Rec with either Waldorf or La Plata soccer clubs.

Rec Plus fees are $350 per player and can be broken up over the season. Need-based financial aid is available through our Scholarship Program.

Fee includes: Maryland State Youth Soccer Association registration and insurance, league administration, coaching education, field use, and referee fees.

Fee does not include: a uniform, shinguards, cleats, and personal soccer ball.
